Why MJ Evans?

Martin Pettingell

Martin Pettingell is a partner and Head of Personal Injury and Motorcycle Claims at the Bristol offices of Clarke Willmott, a firm rated as number one in the South West by Legal 500 for personal injury work.

Martin has considerable experience in dealing with brain injury claims on behalf of those injured on the roads, particularly motorcyclists.

He works with MJ Evans when a client requires a specially adapted home following a brain injury and cities a recent project as a good example of the firm’s approach:

“It was the adaptation of a house near Bristol for a client with a severe brain injury. MJ Evans worked with the architect, quantity surveyor, case manager and others to make the process seamless. It’s fair to say the whole thing progressed like clockwork, without any real glitches. This would be unusual on most build, let alone one with such a level of complexity.

The completed accommodation enjoys a level of finish that is second-to-none – proof of MJ Evans’ exemplary attention to detail. It was, in short, a first-class job.”

Steve Woodley

Steve Woodley is an architect at the Wyvern Partnership, a firm based in Devizes that specialises in designing for disabled people and acting as expert witnesses in claims for personal injury.

Steve will not just complete an initial design and hand it over to MJ Evans, he will be involved in the entire process. He liaises with MJ Evans and the quantity surveyor throughout, conducting monthly site visits, before finally signing off the finished project.

“I’ve worked with MJ Evans for a number of years and have always been impressed by their expertise. There are not many firms that can undertake these kinds of projects and MJ Evans is among the best. They understand the complexities of the work and are committed to providing a first-class service. The finished work is completed to an exemplary standard.”

Jenny Whittall

As a case manager, Jenny Whittall becomes involved with MJ Evans once the firm has been chosen as a designated builder. At this stage, she brings with her a unique understanding of the client that impacts upon the design of the build – what equipment they will need, how their care needs must be met, what care package they will require and also the wider family and social elements that need to be considered.

Jenny helps the clients make what can seem overwhelming decisions and choices. “I work closely with MJ Evans at this point. They are integral in ensuring the client is given the support and guidance they need. It’s not just the practical, day-to-day needs. MJ Evans also works really hard to understand the difficulties my clients may be going through.”
